Karnataka Becomes Second State to Implement the Ruling

On January 30, 2025, the Karnataka Health Department issued an order to enforce the Supreme Court’s ruling that allows terminally ill patients to die with dignity. Karnataka is now the second state after Kerala to implement this decision.

Decision to Help Terminally Ill Patients

Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said this order will help patients who cannot recover or remain in a vegetative state. When life-sustaining treatment no longer benefits them, they can now choose to pass away peacefully.

A Step Towards Compassionate Healthcare

With this move, Karnataka has ensured that patients and their families can make informed decisions about end-of-life care. This decision supports ethical and compassionate healthcare in the state.
