On Tuesday XI Jinping highlighted the importance to protect regional peace and “resist protectionism” during his address at virtual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
According to State news agency Xinhua the leader of China “called for efforts to safeguard regional peace and ensure common security”.
What did XI Jinping say at virtual summit?
XI emphasizes the responsibility to get long term peace and stating in the region, expressing that it is a common goal.
He also said the China would “carry on the correction of economic globalization, oppose protectionism, unilateral sanctions and extensions of national security concepts”.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) now consists of nine members states-after welcoming Iran as the newest member one Tuesday-is headquartered in Beijing.
It’s latest virtual summit is hosted by India, which holds the rotating chair.
The leaders of Russia, Pakistan and several Asian countries also participated in the virtual SCO summit.

Vladimir Putin is also going to address the summit. It spotted at it’s first arrival since a brief mutiny led by Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of the Wagner mercenary group, occurred last month.
Russia is positively countering and will continue to counter external pressure, sanctions and provocations, said the Russian leader.
